Reliability Improvement Programme

Oerlikon implemented a reliability programme with a major customer in 2002, which was further reviewed since. During this time, there was a permanent measuring and improvement of production parameters such as uptime and reliability. Based upon the data collected and upon further analysis, Oerlikon developed an action plan to increase the uptime with the following results:

  • 2% uptime increase
  • Significant increase in DVD production capacity
  • Increased stability allows more accurate planing and greater availability


The table shows the provisional results, which clearly demonstrated that sputtering uptime improved by 2%
